Biography
I graduated in May 2012 from Keuka College, located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, with my Bachelor of Arts in the Visual and Verbal Arts concentrating in the Fine Arts with a minor in Communication Studies Cum Laude. While at Keuka, I took many different studio art classes; however, my greatest passions solidified in Film Photography and Acrylic Painting. Taking on Film has been one of the most interesting forms of art that I have ever experienced. I love the rawness of the prints, and the feeling of reward that comes over me when I finally complete a print. I find that this feeling is similar to that of when I know a painting is finished; and that both art forms have a raw beauty that creates a relationship within the media.
I now reside in Cornelius, North Carolina, and instruct classes at the Cornelius Arts Center after completing an internship with both The Community Arts Project (CAP) and the Town of Cornelius Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture Department. I teach Preschool, Elementary, and Teen classes, as well as Drop-In Art, Workshops, Birthday Parties and Summer Camps. I also have experience working with adults, and both children and adults with special needs. Although I am an art instructor, I do not look at my instruction as simply “Teaching.” I give my students the tools they need to express their own creativity, as creativity is vital in all aspects of life. My students are already artists and I enjoy meeting the artists of the local community, working with them and having the opportunity to learn from them as well.
As you may find, the subject of most of my work is rescue dogs. I have become passionate about Animal Shelters and Rescues because I volunteer at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. Volunteering has given me the opportunity to advocate for the animals, as well as educate people in the community on the importance of adopting, spaying/neutering, and researching the right pet for your household. I also greatly enjoy photographing and painting unique landscapes. I spend a great deal of my time outdoors when I am not working, and I am very passionate about capturing the natural beauty of the Earth around me.
